FUZON ' 07

     The idea of RGCET alumni struck… news spread among the alumni members about it through YAHOO GROUPS, and individual e-mail database collected. The response from the passed out students was great. To make it convenient for everyone to attend, the meeting date was fixed on a Sunday, the 18th of February, 2007. Work started vigorously.

     The alumni members proposed the idea of launching a website and took up the job of designing it. The invitation from the principal was sent to members through e-mail. There was a great response. The name of the alumni association was proposed by principal as FUZON meaning ‘fusion zone’ which was accepted by all alumni members.

     The most memorable day in the history of RGCET happened. The function started at 11:00AM, presided by the Principal and Administrator. All departments HOD’s, lecturers facilitated with their presence. The function commenced with the gracious lighting of Kuthuvilaku followed by the invocation song. The principal and administrator were honored by the alumni members after the welcome speech. The program followed with the principal addressing the gathering. The principal welcomed the alumni members back to college. He proposed many ideas for the welfare of the college that could be done by the alumni association like starting an interaction program between the alumni and present students, allocating guest house for frequent visits, etc.

     The principal’s addressing was followed by a talk by an alumni member who relished his past memories. After several discussions, the name of office bearers for the year 2007 – 08 was announced by Mrs.Sandhanalakshmi.

     The president elect addressed the gathering and informed that the course of future actions would be chalked out in the newly elected executives meeting to be held shortly and the outcome of the meeting will be informed through alumni website.

     The newly elected members were felicitated with bouquets and badges.

     Next was the most waited moment, the website launching. The newly designed website was called ‘SPHERE’. SPHERE bridged the gap between the alumni and college. The site contained details of alumni members and a link for present final year students to upload their projects. It was a success.

     The entertainment program that followed was exhilarating which included a classical dance, a talent show and some group dances. On the whole it was a skillful display of creativity from the students.

     As the saying goes “All’s well that ends well” the eventful day concluded with the national anthem.
